Types of Heavy Gauge Thermoforming

Vacuum Forming

Vacuum forming is the process where a plastic sheet is placed over a tool and vacuum is applied to bring the sheet tight to the tool.  Plastics Design & Manufacturing has an extensive line of thermoforming equipment to provide the highest accuracy, process control, and capacity in the western region.

Repeatability is a standard for long or short runs through computer controlled thermoforming equipment. We support our customer’s turnkey needs through extensive forming, trimming, assembly and finishing capabilities.

We utilize single station capabilities for prototyping and low volumes, as well as multi-station rotaries to achieve efficiencies in high production plastics manufacturing. Our 15 forming stations range in size from 4’ x 5’ to 5’ x 9’.

Pressure forming

Pressure forming is a complex process where the sheet is pressed into a tool, and pressure applied to the tool, allowing for replication of sharp detail.

Our award-winning pressure forming capabilities allow for precise reproduction of tool definition, including textures, undercuts and reveals required in high definition, close tolerance parts produced for a variety of industries including medical, aviation, food service and technology.
